Brown Bag Gam: "A Heart of the Sea, A Homecoming
Celebration of Echo's Heart"
NC Maritime Museum, Beaufort.
Part of our popular lunchtime lecture series, this Brown
Bag Gam will focus on the homecoming of the plastinated
heart removed from “Echo,” the Museum’s 33.5-foot long
Sperm Whale skeleton. The adolescent male whale came
ashore at Cape Lookout in 2004 and his body was
preserved for display at the Museum; during the process,
his heart was sent to the University of Tennessee for
plastination. Join NCMM’s Natural Science Curator Keith
Rittmaster for a unique look at life in the sea during
this event. Call 252-728-7317 for more information.
